Are constables present in Rhode Island?
In the state of Rhode Island, constables do not hold a prominent role in law enforcement. Unlike many other states, Rhode Island does not have a statewide system of constables. Instead, law enforcement duties are primarily carried out by municipal police departments and the Rhode Island State Police. Constables, if present, serve limited roles such as serving court documents or providing security for special events. However, their presence and responsibilities vary greatly across different municipalities within the state.
