Is the act of engaging in prostitution indoors legally permitted in Rhode Island?
Prostitution has been a complex and controversial issue, especially with regards to its legality indoors in Rhode Island. Since 1980, indoor prostitution has remained a gray area due to a legal loophole. However, in 2009, the state legislature took a stand, closing this loophole and making it illegal to engage in prostitution both indoors and outdoors. Consequently, prostitution in any setting is strictly prohibited under Rhode Island law.
